Edwardian terraces of the Northfields grid
Northfields is street after street of two-storey Edwardian terraces, built around 1900 by different builders — which is why details vary from house to house. Bathrooms usually sit at the rear over the kitchen, on suspended timber floors with pipework extended many times since. We replace tired runs during strip-out instead of hiding them behind new tiles.
1930s semis and post-war homes
Around West Ealing and further into W13 the stock shifts to 1930s semis and post-war houses with slightly larger bathrooms. The most common request is combining a separate WC and bathroom into one proper room — a layout change that lives or dies on getting the soil pipe and ventilation right, so we plan that first.
